Winter Terrarium Update....

My wooden mushrooms didn't work out well...they kept developing mold on them so I went  with some balancing rocks...It works quite well....I am going to look around for some real mushrooms to plant in there...

maybe put an old log and some shitake mushroom spores will grow, or how about a ceramic mushroom

I thought about a ceramic one...if I can;t find something small I will probably go that way... That's a good idea about the shitake spores... Maybe I will try that Thanks Linda :)

You've SO inspired me....first thing after I return from Utah on the 14th, I'm going out for supplies to grow one of these terrariums!

I've always liked those pebble towers and last summer I made some myself for the first time ever. I think I might have become addicted now! ;) Good luck with the mushrooms!

Love terrariums.....you can give the whole thing a very light spritz with store bought 3%hydrogen peroxide to keep mold and fungus down, the extra oxygen will prohibit it :D

Linda, these stones are doing their job as well as the sweet mushrooms. They might be even better in that damp air.
If you would be here right now, it is so mild, yesterday we saw dozends of mushrooms, so many, as if it was september...
Usually it is very cold here around these days, all full of ice and snow - since two years it is not.
So please show us more of your updates for your magic terrarium - I love this idea ;)) to keep fairyland in a bowl :))
Hugs from Méa
