The Hanger of Findings

Instead of leaving your findings in a draw hidden away...Hang them out where you can see them..add  or subtract as you wish.....a new form of Vision Board...  But make it special by adding crystals & hang from a  piece of wood that has sentiment to it...like from the forest, a river or the beach.. Mine is from under the Covered Bridge on Sunday River in Bethel Maine...a place where I spent  hours of my childhood....

This is my brother & I under the bridge around 1965....
A heartfelt thanks to my Grampa for those wonderful memories...

DIY Friday- A Bit of Recycling...

We have been doing some serious cleaning out this summer...I mean serious...especially the Hubby he has been on a roll for a while now...it started with the basement & has now moved outside.....reading from my favorite little Feng Shui book for years finally paid off... ..I really never thought I would see the day where he would let go of so much STUFF.....but with Lily being born he felt that it was time for her now....
(maybe  a Hobbit playhouse in the works...**wink**).....
SO....off it went ...to the salvage yard, the dump & Goodwill...alot of it was junk pieces for projects that he decided he would never bother with...I jumped on board too...cleaning out the sheds...the storage room...anything that had been sitting 6 months or more would go...unless we used it immediately.... A couple of things we kept were part of an old stove we had... it needed so much work we decided to let this go until we moved...there is the perfect wood cook stove out there for us somewhere......but for now two pieces in it we kept....first the Copper water tank....

Pretty nasty but it was mostly tarnish ...this side was the worse because it was next to the fire box....I decided to take this outside because there wasn't enough room here....So with  a bottle of lemon juice, a container of cheap table salt & scrubbie I went to work......most of the copper came shining through...I still want to do one more cleaning before buffing it out & clean up the top piece......

I was thinking a plant holder for some ivy.... Plus Copper has metaphysical properties... I know wearing it is beneficial.... I know I like cooking with it......I wonder if a piece like this will be beneficial in the house...

Then there is the ash pan...the Hubby is going to sandblast it I am not sure what I will do to it...but I am planning on using it next year in the woods behind the Moon gate to hold hanging plants...maybe some tiny  asylum & moss ????  So a Fairy like design might be in order...

Then I made this hanger...the container is the bottom part of a  vintage cast iron ceiling light.. This is still a work in progress.... I need to widen the knots near the cast iron bowl ...But I like the fact that the holes are there to attach the hemp to, it can be shortened or lengthened.... the tassel at that bottom can be changed easily....which it will on this one...
It also could be used for something other than plants...it could hold incense or crystals..  a ball of tiny lights... pinecones....an LED  up light....anything  ...Well., I would probably not use candles around the hemp...that wouldn't be good...

So what do you have around the house that could be a recycle project this weekend???

DIY Friday- Spider Webs & The Full Moon...

I got the idea from these beautiful garden screens from England.....
So I decided to make a smaller version.... But plans are being formulated for a huge one like these for my garden... I am thinking branches with Hemp Rope...Plus getting the Hubby to make a metal spider for it...
So I found some grapevine out back in the woods..... I made a spoke from the thicker parts of the grapevine then starting weaving the spiral.........
I hung it on the Moon Gate...
It seem to be the right place for it......

Depending on the time of day the light made it look different...

These are easy to make. you can use other materials than grapevine to make it... .Great for Halloween but just as a Fall decoration as well... Now to add a spider...

I tried to get a picture hoping the Full Moon would light it up but no luck....It really was pretty with the light hitting it but my camera just couldn't pick it up.....
Enjoy the Full Moon ...it really is beautiful tonight......
Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Sacred Spaces

Everyone needs a place in which to find quiet... the best place is to find that quiet inside of yourself....the ability to find a peaceful space even amid chaos....tho I am working on my sacred space inside of me, having a special area to go to be quiet, meditate, journal & do yoga is important....  I am still working on mine but this week I am going to share images that have inspired ideas ...then post some of mine...
Enjoy...

Mushrooms....

At evening it is not;
At morning in a truffled hut
It stops upon a spot..."

The Orchid....

My friend Jeanette gave me an Orchid...It is perfect for my meditation room.....

"Once you’ve identified the need to simplify, it may seem like an overwhelming task, but it doesn’t have to be. Try not to look at a simple life as a precise thing that needs to be achieved. There’s no end goal. There’s no end at all. Instead, look at simplifying as a way of life, and realize that you can live it by doing a little bit each day. This way, your life is consistently getting simpler, and each day you’ll feel calmer, happier, and more grounded than the last."

DIY Friday - Table project changed...

I am a day late on this  but I will be getting back to my regular posts now...
Plus adding another new bi-monthly post....So this weeks DIY is an update on a craft table I was working on....Looks like the door will not be my craft table after all....A friend of ours brought me a large wooden spool that will work out much better than the door... much easier work around....So I am going to refinish the spool...

Most of the door was so rotten it just fell apart anyway which was too bad...It was a nice looking door......so I salvaged as much of the good wood as possible...I ended up with this pile ...8 pieces..so I am going to now build a low table  for my meditation area....I plan on carving designs into it...I got a small Dremel with carving tips so I am going to do a little practicing on scraps while I strip off the paint & construct it..........

Into something along these lines, only maybe a bit longer.....So lets see how this plays out for both these tables.....

Have a great weekend...
