I remember the day she died. I was in high school and heard about it while standing in line for the bus. Also remember the passing of the other Js, Jimmy and Jim, during that time. All were 27.

Read an article on Janis recently. She was a very intelligent woman with a lot of passion, creativity and drive. She unfortunately got ahold of a very pure dose of heroin which killed her.

I didn't really appreciate Janis' talent and style until decades later. Now I think she was just so very unique and incredible. And no one, I mean no one, can sing like her! She could really belt it out! I love watching films of her sing and stomp her tiny feet dressed in heels like the sound was coming all the way up from there.

I always remember her birthday as it is the day before mine.

RIP, Janis.

Very nice tribute Linda...as the time goes by you realize what an impact she had...I was a big fan in HS & my friends couldn't understand it...I finally found another chica that enjoyed her music & we would play her music to pour heart's content...:) She was very intelligence & treated shabbily by some people...it effected her self perception...very sad....

I always loved her gritty voice and Passion for her Art. Yes, it is hard to believe that most of my Idols in Music are {or would have been} so 'Mature' now! *winks* But then, so am I... {ha ha ha} Thanks for dropping by for a Blog Visit. In answer to your question, The Man was in a serious car accident in early August and is trying to recover as best he can, he has Traumatic Brain Injury and a broken neck, so it will be a very long road to recovery... at least he was FINALLY able to come Home after three months of being in Trauma Centers and Acute Nursing Care Facilities,to be Home with us for the Holidays. He's a tough old Marine so he's made remarkable progress, the Docs are amazed, he had to learn to do everything again, even simple things like swallowing food, talking, walking... so the second half of 2013 was particularly brutal for our Family and I ended up Hospitalized myself from a breakdown under all the stress and strain of it all. So we're Hopeful that 2014 will continue to bring Healing Energies and Blessings that will bring us out of the Shadow of the Valley of Death and back into the Sunlight!

Happy New Year my Friend... Dawn... The Bohemian
