DIY Friday -Recycled Pillow

We have been doing alot of cleaning up lately so my moss garden has been on stand still tho I did get some ferns in and am going to night to collect more......

The rain we have had has been really helpful in the moss taking to the new environment... the hubby's project is still coming along so hopefully I will have more to post next week..

So on these hot days I  will get going on my pillows that I have put off for months...

This one is made from an old paisley scarf.. 26X26
this picture shows the actual color of it...

The back is made up of corduroy
from a pair of pants
& a piece of velvet lace..

A very basic envelope pattern
so that it can be taken off for washing...

I love the way it came out..

Of Course Hattie did the testing
for snuggabilty!

Have a great weekend... Recycle something!

Wednesday Women- Kristy Mitchell

Danaus
I was going to do today's post on another woman but I decided to post this young woman's work instead after I saw them on Luthien's Pinterest board..
Kristy Mitchell did a series called 'Wonderland"  in memory of her mother, an English teacher & storyteller, who died of a brain tumor.

She channeled her grief into this work
which took 3 years to complete....

Euphaeidae
Some shots took over five months to complete...

Lady of the Lake
While she would wait up to a year to get
the perfect setting in nature...

The Storyteller
She & artist Elbie Van Eeden spent nights & weekends at her home in England making& designing all the costumes, wigs & details...

 The Beautiful Blindness of Devotion

 The Briar Rose

The White Queen

DIY Friday- The Hobbit Hole

"In a hole in the ground there lived a Hobbit."
J. R. R. Tolkien

With all the excitement of the Hobbit movie
coming out in December, I have seen some posting
of the Hobbit homes, so I thought why not add one to the Page Project...

The Moss Hill over by the Frog pond
is perfect for a tiny underground home...

so a slab from a log, halved
& buried in the ground in front a rock...

Add windows & a door from a hole saw...
Some scroll work from old wire...

Lots of moss piled all around...
then let Mother Nature do the rest...

Oh yes, my lilies are out in the pond...

Of course, the photo session would not
be complete without Miss Chicklet...
she is making sure the moss is just so...

She loves the camera & I love her <3
Happy Weekend everyone!

Maleficent

Maleficent is the latest of Fairy Tales brought to the big screen...Angelina Jolie plays the evil sorceress with a new twist on the tale...It tells the story of how she became so evil....

India Eisley plays Maleficent as a young girl...
Not surprising here as she looks like Jolie...

This movie release on March 14, 2014 so we have a while to wait...But it is fun to see so many of the Fairy Tales we grew up with come to life on the movie screen especially with the special effects they now have...Another one to look forward to...
