Everything But the Kitchen Sink

I do not have a dishwasher...
never had, never will...

There is something therapeutic for me
to stand at the sink...

look out the window, watching the birds or weather..

It is where I perform many household tasks...

 do my canning....

even work with my plants...

it is like having an extra hand in the kitchen...

I am thinking of replacing my small one with

a farm sink......big & roomy...

I know I have posted this before but I REALLY  miss my Slate sink...**SIGH***
it was probably three times the length of this one...So nice to have during canning season or anytime of the year...

Time to go on the hunt for another one....

These pics and your comments make a kitchen sink seem almost romantic...but, I think I'll keep my dishwasher! hahaha... Really cool post!

We never had one growing up in the UK and to me it's just one of those nice little luxuries, but I can live without it too. Love it when I go home and stand at the sink washing dishes with my mum.

If you get a big ol' farmsink, I'll come help with the dishes :)

I have a dishwasher because it came with the house. Seems like every house we have been in (we are Military) has one these days. I prefer to wash my own dishes. I love the pictures on this post, gorgeous!! Wish i had the simplicity of some of these kitchens, so warm and cozy. I could spend all day in any one of them!

Wow, you had a slate sink? I would miss it, too! I have a dishwasher, but never use it anymore (though I did when I had kids at home!).

I miss my beehive oven and granite bake center of my previous kitchen. :( The kitchen really is the heart of the home.

Thanks for sharing the gorgeous photos!

ohhhh gorgeous kitchens.
we had a new one put in (and i hate it!) a couple of years ago and swampy over-ruled me in having the sink put under the window :(

I am an anti-dishwasher, too :D I think it's one of the surplus products of urban civilisation.
And I always love to do things with my hands and fingers when possible :)
So beautiful country kitchen idea, lovely details!
A nice ode to the sink!;)

Is there a picture of your kitchen somewhere here that I missed or can't find? I have a dishwasher...but it is others in the family who think it has to be used. I too prefer standing in front of a sink filled with hot, soapy water...and gazing out the window at my garden (a veggie plot here in the US) and across the street to my neighbor's new evergreen that he planted right in line with my view...then decorated it with colored lights for Christmas (I'm sure he did all that for MY benefit!) Bonus...someone you love is beside you with dish towel in hand :-)

Gotta love the neighbors...:)
