It is mid January in Maine.....
a thin layer of ice covers the ponds...
only chickens can walk on this ice...
There should be a thick blanket of snow all around....
Instead mushrooms are growing on a stump
above the ice covered pond below our home...
or frozen in time....
with the weather hovering on the temperate side
it is hard telling...

Wow, these shots area beautiful! Mushrooms?? Hasn't our winter been strange? Although, I won't pretend to miss the snow...it's nice to have a break from it, though not for long!
I think that is about to change here in Maine & NH...:)
I don't ever remember a winter like this....it's about to change tonight here in NY. Beginning at any minute. My girls went to bed hoping for no school in the morning. :)
Love the photos!!
Beautiful photos. We've had a strange winter in the Midwest, too. Average of 20 degrees above normal. Come on over and enter my first-ever giveaway--one of my handmade ephemera journals.
Nature always finds a way!
Thanks for stopping by... yes, I believe our Guys would get along fabulously. The Man spent two consecutive tours of Duty in SE Asia as a Special Forces Commander & Marine Sniper so he was always in the Jungles of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos during that Era. I think that is why his idea of a Vacation is never anywhere Tropical and of coarse mine is! *LOL* His Memories of Tropical Locales aren't of the happy kind.
We lived in Maine when I was Young {Bangor} and I remember the Forrests being quite dense so I'm certain there are Treasures to be 'scored' for anyone willing to brave the Maine Wilderness as well!
