~~Mid Winter~~

It is the Winter Solstice...
short day.. long night...
now the days will lengthen..
During the cold & dark hours of midwinter,
our diverse Holidays traditions
bring in the warmth, light &
fragrant evergreens pointing
forward to the springtime..

as the snow flies...it is time to plan..
The seed catalogs are arriving...

So I think of old windows...

recycled & re-purposed into houses for garden greenery..

Inside...
the warm earthy smell of the soil &
 the sprouts that signal rebirth

Time to start working on the plans for our next structure...

a Greenhouse!

ooo ... nice!! to day we celebrate the winter solstice by cooking flour dumplings in sweet ginger soup or "tong yuen". every year the Chinese observe this tradition tho it is much simpler nowadays. when we were kids my grandma use to say, when you eat the dumplings each year, you grow an inch :) LOL!! then i must be basketball player size by now ;)

That's on our list for spring as well......hoping to lengthen our growing season a bit. Weather has been so crazy for gardening the last couple of years we need all the help we can get. Those are lovely inspiration photos!
