Memorial Day

For many people, Memorial Day weekend means yards sales, the start of summer, parties, a long weekend and store sales....a holiday. ...but
It is a time of reflection, remembrance and honoring loved ones we have lost and
those who have sacrificed their lives serving our country....
and continue to do so.

This is also a good time to remember all our troops
and their families all over the world for their service
and sacrifice not only today but everyday.

Keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

I am also posting a link to a site that sends care packages to our troops
as they serve in very dangerous places like Afghanistan.

Our flowers of May

My flowers came earlier than usual this year...These are my favorites...
Peonies, Lilacs and Roses with a touch of Irises ...
They last long enough so you get your fill of their beauty and fragrance
but not to take them for granted.
This is true treasure.

Underwater Footage of the Oil Spill

I thought this video posted by Good Morning America gave us a view that, within the news coverage, has not really been seen. We see footage only on the surface or by live feed from BP. This has not given us the whole picture.

One of their reporters went down with Philippe Cousteau to see the extent of this poisoning from an underwater viewpoint. This shows how much of a toxic environment, that not only the oil but the dispersants as well, is being created. Instead of making the oil "disappear" the dispersants seem to make the oil worse by creating the giant plumes.

Sally Field - Emmy Acceptance Speech Uncensored

My friend Lori posted this on her FaceBook page this morning and I felt Ms. Fields words to the very bottom of my soul!!!

Especially if you have a son or daughter who has been deployed or about to be as I have, you will truly understand the last part of this.

God bless you Sally Fields for taking that moment to speak for us!!!

Environmental Apocalypse

I am listening to my husband playing "Instant Karma"
by John Lennon.
It struck me how very fitting this is for the Gulf.
Retribution comes in many forms....
But if you put crap out will come back to you..
Those responsible will get theirs....

"Instant Karma's gonna get you
Gonna knock you right on the head
You better get yourself together
Pretty soon you're gonna be dead
What in the world you thinking of
Laughing in the face of love
What on earth you tryin' to do
It's up to you, yeah you

Instant Karma's gonna get you
Gonna look you right in the face
Better get yourself together darlin'
Join the human race
How in the world you gonna see
Laughin' at fools like me
Who on earth d'you think you are
A super star
Well, right you are"

Unfortunately, there are many innocents that are now being devastated because of the
selfish, arrogant and irresponsible behavior of a few.
A friend of mine who lives near the
Pensacola area posted these Greenpeace pictures on her Face Book page today.

Viewpoint from Florida.

A friend of mine posted this link to a blogger in Pensacola. It is not very long but beautifully poignant. Please take the time to read it.

I know Lori feels the same as she lives there too and made the same trek with her husband the other day to this beautiful beach with it's pure white sand....This is what she says about her area....

"I just want folks to know that this is one of the few beaches left in this country that looks like it does. It is unspoiled and accessible. It was made by mother earth to be enjoyed by families and fisherman, the occasional lone beach walker, or a cuddly couple. "

I do not blame them for feeling this way...This oil gushing from below is a man-made crime against Nature.

Toxins being dumped into the ocean to disburse a toxin causing even more pollution that will be deadly to marine, animal and plant life...and to us...we are all connected....pain and destruction caused in one area will be felt everywhere. Be it is physically or psychologically.

How awful that a fossil fuel sought by this country can cause so much devastation whether by oil contamination or war. I hope people across this country will listen to what residents of those areas are saying...I hope that this will make people think more about CLEAN energy...and move towards it and eliminate these potential disasters to our environment.

As you look at these pictures of this beautiful area...
just imagine it covered with black, mucky, toxic oil !!!

Thanks Lori and Jim for sharing your day
and your pictures with us
Love You

A very fitting and spiritual picture to end with...
